Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Millard and went to Hitchcock Elementary, Millard Central Junior High and Gross Catholic High School and graduated in 1993. I then went to University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Can you tell us a little about your family?
I have 5 children – 4 daughters and 1 son. I have 3 going to University of Nebraska (UNL) and my oldest went to UNL and now goes to UNMC College of Dentistry. We also have 4 dogs – Yorkies, Yorkie Poo and a Bernedoodle.
Who is someone you admire and why?
My Mom. She is so active and she is 82 years old and still bikes. She is always growing and learning and has the energy of a teenager. She cares for my father who has Alzheimers.
What do you love doing in your free time?
Watching Husker football and Creighton Basketball. I love going to my kids’ activities, sporting events and playing pickleball with them. My kids played soccer so I loved traveling with them and going to their games. Two of my daughters dance so I love watching them perform. I enjoy golfing especially with my son. I enjoy working out and I like to barbecue and use my smoker. I like watching UFC. Just spending time hanging with my wife and kids.
What are you most passionate about in your dental career?
Caring for my patients and gaining and maintaining the trust of my patients. I truly enjoy helping people to gain the ability to chew and eat without pain or discomfort.
What are your most passionate about outside of work?
I really love spending time with my family. Having coffee with my parents. Also having Sunday night dinners with my parents, my brother and his family.
Are there any causes or charities that are especially meaningful to you?
I am very passionate about Alzheimer’s Disease because my father suffers from it.
What’s your go-to breakfast?
French toast with peanut butter and maple syrup.
As a kid, what did you dream of becoming?
A firefighter.
What inspired your path into dentistry?
I had wanted to work in healthcare and had a family friend recommend dentistry. I love working with people and helping them. I love the satisfaction of helping people get out of pain and fixing their problems.
How do you hope patients and colleagues remember you?
As someone who led by example and had a great work ethic. I want to be remembered as someone who cared for my patients like they were family.
